Get Involved!
The Edible Garden Project exists because hundreds of people contribute thousands of hours every year.
We couldn’t be more excited to have you involved – our volunteers bring energy, enthusiasm, and knowledge to our team!
There are 3 ways to volunteer with the EGP:
- Farm
- Markets
- Sharing Gardens
If you’ve never volunteered with us before…
We recommend signing up for a volunteer orientation. Check below for the next available date!
Upcoming Volunteer Orientations
Wednesday, Apr 1, 2026 | 9:00 am - 10:00 am
What our volunteers are saying
I got involved with the EGP to be part of a community. I love working in the gardens – the whole process from seed to harvest. The EGP staff and volunteers are amazingly nice and knowledgeable. What’s not to like!
Volunteer at the Farm
Attend a drop-in session at the Farm and help us with farm tasks!
Tasks can include weeding, wheelbarrowing, shovelling, bed prep, and more.
Washrooms and drinking water available on site, but bring your own water bottle. Covered area available for storing bags (please leave valuables at home). All skill levels welcome and no need to register in advance!
Drop-ins happen on Wednesday mornings from 9am – 11am from April to October. Check our calendar for details and follow us on Instagram for any last minute updates.
If you have never volunteered with us before, please sign up for an orientation session first (sessions will be listed on the Events page).
What to bring
- Garden gloves
- Water bottle
- Appropriate clothing, including hat, long sleeve, boots, rain gear when necessary

Volunteer at the Markets
We host a vibrant community market every weekend, and we are looking for volunteer help with set-up, traffic direction, and cashiering. If you love the buzzing atmosphere of a farmer’s market, or love sharing your favourite recipes – this is the job for you!
Shifts available:
Saturdays: 9am-11:30am or 11:15am-1:45pm

Volunteer at the Sharing Gardens
Our incredible Sharing Garden teams work at five different sites around North Vancouver, growing food that is donated to food insecure families and individuals on the North Shore. This opportunity is for folks with previous gardening experience, who are looking to commit to working in a tight-knit team for a whole season.
Shifts available:
Tuesdays, Saturdays: 9am-12pm
Become an Intern
This volunteer position provides a season-long opportunity to assist in running a successful small-scale urban farm.
Volunteer Interns will be leaders on the farm and gain hands-on experience in all aspects of enterprise, including farm management, volunteer coordination, community outreach and education with supervision and mentorship from our Farm Manager and Program Manager.
We believe that the best way to learn about farming is by farming, and therefore the majority of the internship will involve working alongside our farmers and learning about the importance of planning, pace, efficiency and timing.
