At the Edible Garden Project, we grow all of our produce from seed. This includes not just the food we sell at our markets (we grew 10,000 lbs in 2019, and are on track to break that record for 2020), but for all our other programs as well. Most notably, our Sharing Gardens program, which grows food for donation to various community partners. In 2019, our Sharing Gardeners donated 4,000 lbs of fresh produce. 2020 has shown a dramatic increase in food insecurity, with so many families and individuals struggling with health complications, increased stress and isolation associated with COVID-19. Our volunteers have responded by growing more food for donation in 2020 and are anticipating an even greater need for 2021.
All our seedlings are started as early as February in a seedling greenhouse. As we have recently lost access to our previous greenhouse, we need to transform one of our current greenhouses for seedling propagation. Without sufficient space to produce our seedlings, we will not able to operate fully.
We have set a fundraising goal of $20,000 and we need your help to reach it!
Any amount would be appreciated, and all donations are eligible for a tax receipt. Please help us make a difference in our community by contributing to the success of this program.
Thank you for taking the time to read this, and we hope you will offer your support for this initiative. You can make a donation on our website or on our North Shore Neighbourhood House website: www.nsnh.bc.ca (please include a note that your donation is for the Edible Garden Project Seedling Greenhouse)
