Join this workshop to learn the fundamentals of seed saving! Learn about the basic skills and knowledge involved in seed saving. Topics include the biology of seed production, seed harvesting and cleaning, appropriate seed crops for your garden and climate, and maintaining the genetic integrity of varities with appropriate population sizes and isolation distances.

This FREE Seed Saving Workshop is being held in partnership with the fourth annual Seedy Saturday. Seedy Saturday begins at 1:00pm in the Inman Room at the North Shore Neighbourhood House.

Mel Sylvestre has been a small-scale organic farmer for 10 years. She is currently working at UBC Farm where she has integrated seed production into the Farm system. She is involved with BC Seeds and the Bauta Family Initiative of Seed Security in Canada, and has delivered serveral workshops on seed saving in BC.

Participant Instructions: Our annual Seedy Saturday event will begin when this workshop finishes, so come prepared to share or swap seeds.
