Workshop: The Well Rounded Tomato

There’s nothing quite like the smell and taste of a home grown tomato. Whether it’s your first season growing these sweet and sour delicacies or you’re a seasoned tomato-grower searching for tips, this workshop will help you grow your best tomatoes!

In this workshop, you’ll learn how to:

  • Start tomatoes indoors
  • Transition seedlings into the garden
  • Accommodate tomatoes’ heat, light, and soil requirements
  • Grow a diversity of tomatoes
  • Choose varieties that are suitable for North Shore growing conditions

Mike Nassichuk claims he was raised in a vegetable patch and credits his parents as being his foremost vegetable gardening teachers. He is a UBC graduate with degrees in Biology, which provides a scientific context to his gardening interests. He is a qualified Master Gardener, has also completed the Advanced Master Gardener program, and is a recipient of the VanDusen Garden “Award of Distinction”.

Participant Instructions: This workshop will be held indoors at the Lynn Canyon Ecology Centre.
