Workshop: Maximize Your Harvest: High Yield Gardening in Small Spaces

If you are growing vegetables in a community garden plot, balcony containers, or a small yard, this workshop will help you maximize the harvest you can get out of your small space garden. Learn techniques Gavin Wright, Loutet Farmer, uses to maximize crop yeilds – you can use them too!

In this workshop, you’ll learn how to:

  • Succession and inter-planting timing and techniques
  • How to harvest your produce to maximize yeild
  • Tips for building healthy soil and using amendments correctly
  • Choosing plants that will thrive in your space
Gavin Wright is the resident farmer at Loutet Farm in North Vancouver. After working at UBC Farm, Gavin operated a mixed vegetable farm in Pemberton. His favourite days of the week were spent at the Farmers Markets because he had the opportunity to talk and connect with people buying his produce. His role at the North Shore Neighbourhood House’s Edible Garden Project at Loutet farm combines his strengths: hands-on farming, educating, and celebrating growing food with the community.
Participant Instructions: This workshop will be held outside at Loutet Farm. Please wear weather appropriate clothing and footwear.
REGISTRATION: You can register online on this page, or you can call the Lynn Canyon Ecology Centre to at 604-990-3755.
