GardenSmart Workshop: Daily Eggs 101 – Keeping Chickens In The City

Keeping Chickens in the City

In the City of North Vancouver, it is legal to keep up to eight hens in your backyard. The art of keeping chickens in the City is new to many people, so come to this workshop to learn how to do it right. Your neighbours and future chickens will thank you for it!

Duncan will cover all the basics, from safe coop constructions, nutrition, general ailments, local by-laws, etc.

Duncan Martin is a Vermont transplant who now runs a backyard chicken coop business at www.dailyeggs.com. DailyEggs has a simple but noble goal: get people started with a flock of healthy, happy, and productive egg-laying hens. When he’s not building coops, Duncan works for the Vancouver Urban Renewable Energy Cooperative, installing solar electric and hot water systems. The rest of the time he’s enjoying the world of family, friends, books, and bread.

Participant Instructions: This is an outdoor workshop, so please dress appropriately for the weather.
